About Our Block Paving Driveways

Block paving is one of the most common driveway surfaces we lay, thanks to the range of blocks, colours and patterns available, and because individual blocks can be lifted for access to a pipe or cable underneath then relaid. We excavate to the depth needed, lay and compact a sub-base to suit the ground and traffic, then bed the blocks on compacted sand with edge restraints built in around the perimeter to stop them creeping under load.

What's Included

Common Questions

Can you match new block paving to an existing driveway?

In a lot of cases yes, if the original blocks are still available or a close match can be sourced. Where the exact block has been discontinued we'll talk through the closest options.

Why does block paving sometimes sink or move over time?

Usually it comes down to the sub-base underneath not being built up or compacted properly in the first place, or edge restraints that aren't holding the blocks in. Getting that stage right during installation is what prevents it.

Do the joints need topping up with sand after installation?

Kiln-dried sand can work its way out of the joints over time, especially in the first year or so, and it's normal to need a top up occasionally. It's a straightforward job to do.
