About Our Pergolas

A pergola gives a patio or seating area structure and part-shade, built in timber or aluminium from a simple open slatted roof through to an adjustable louvered system. Posts are set into proper concrete footings sized to the ground conditions, and we check that any existing patio or deck can take fixings before attaching to it.

Common Questions

What's the difference between a timber and aluminium pergola?

Timber gives a more traditional look and needs periodic treatment to keep it weathering well, while aluminium needs less upkeep and suits a cleaner, modern finish. We can talk through both when we quote.

Can a pergola be fixed to the house?

Yes, a lot of pergolas fix to the wall on one side with posts supporting the front, which usually needs less groundwork than a fully freestanding structure.

Do I need planning permission for a pergola?

Most garden pergolas fall under permitted development, but this depends on size, position and your property, so it's worth checking with your local planning authority if you're unsure before we start.
