About Our Patio Paving

Patio paving covers everything from a brand new patio built from scratch to bringing a tired, mossy existing patio back up to scratch, with proper excavation, a compacted sub-base and a laying course giving a flat, stable surface with the right fall away from the house. We work with natural stone, concrete flags and block paving, each with its own laying method and jointing requirements, and talk through what suits your garden and budget before any digging starts.

What's Included

  • Site survey and advice on materials, layout and drainage falls
  • New patio construction from excavation through to laying and jointing
  • Repairs to cracked, sunken or loose paving slabs
  • Jet washing, re-sanding and re-sealing of existing patios
  • Re-pointing of failed or eroded mortar joints
  • Edging and border work to tie the patio into paths, lawns or borders

How It Works

  1. 1Initial site visit to look at the ground, existing surfaces and drainage, and discuss what you want from the space
  2. 2Advice on material options and a written quote covering the scope of work
  3. 3Agreeing a start date and, where needed, arranging skip or muck-away access
  4. 4Carrying out the groundwork, laying or cleaning work to the agreed specification
  5. 5Jointing, pointing or sealing as the final stage, depending on the job
  6. 6Final walk-round to check falls, finish and tidy up the site before we leave

Why Choose Us

We're a Nottinghamshire-based team, so we're never far from any job across Nottingham, Lincoln, Derby or Mansfield, and we oversee the work directly rather than handing it off to a rotating list of subcontractors.

What Affects the Price

  • Size of the patio area and how much excavation and muck-away is needed
  • Ground conditions, including existing hardcore, clay content and drainage
  • Choice of material (natural stone, concrete flag, block paving) and laying pattern
  • Access to the garden for machinery, wheelbarrows and material delivery
  • Any extra groundwork needed, such as steps, retaining edges or land drains

Common Questions

How long does a patio job usually take?

It depends on the size and what state the ground's in, but a typical domestic patio runs from a few days for a smaller area up to a couple of weeks for a larger or more complex layout with steps or retaining edges.

Can you match an existing patio or extend one?

In most cases yes, though it depends on whether the original material's still available. We'll be upfront if an exact match isn't possible and talk through options like a contrasting border instead.

Do you clean patios as well as build them?

Yes, patio cleaning and re-sanding is a separate service from new patio construction, and we're happy to just do the maintenance side if your existing patio doesn't need replacing.
